Dr. Aaron P. Brinen is a primary developer of Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy along with Aaron T. Beck, MD. Under the guidance of Dr. Aaron T. Beck, Dr. Brinen has worked to formalize the treatment, Recovery Oriented cognitive therapy (CT-R), adapt it to a group model, team-based approach, and milieu. He is a co-author in the upcoming manual of CT-R for schizophrenia, and has been active in the training of community therapists from around the world. Dr. Brinen is an assistant professor in the Drexel College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, where he directs a center for the dissemination, development study and practice of recovery oriented cognitive therapy for psychosis. Additionally, he trains psychiatry residents in CT-R. Dr. Brinen is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy for individuals with schizophrenia, PTSD, and other disorders. In addition to training, research and treatment development, Dr. Brinen has a small practice where he sees individuals. Dr. Brinen is also a trainer for the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and was a faculty member at the Beck Institute, where he trains nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including CBT for schizophrenia and PTSD.
